My shoe!
So we just got a new baby ferret. Don't know what to name him yet, but we know what fascinates him.
He claimed my shoe - grabbed it and wouldn't let go. So I took it off. At which point he proceeds to drag it all over the room, even other other, sleeping ferrets, in search of a place to hide it. I followed behind him with a camera and got a fairly good record of his attempt.

| Here he's just hauled that shoe over the top of poor Sinclair, who had been sleeping. |

Ode to an Iron Pan
When my son, now grown, was a baby
I bought a small iron pan from a discount store.
Not many things from that time do I still have.
Too much darkness and chaos in the years since
have destroyed nearly everything.
This iron pan I still have.
It is precious to me.
Years have tempered it
Obsidian black
moon-like
scrying glass
handle like a needles head.
I gaze into it like a mirror
a pool of dark water
with dark metallic waves spreading out
from the center
as if the fairies had dropped a tiny rock into the middle
and turned the surface to liquid
which then froze.

Valentine's Day
Hawk and I celebrated Velentine's Day early. He got me a soundtrack from the movie 'Labyrinth,' the DVD of the movie 'Sweeney Todd' and a Dr. Who T-shirt. I got him a bathrobe, a billfold and a box of chocolates.
This is the first holiday we've really celebrated in years. Things are finally starting to get back to normal just a bit.
